JavaScript is a high-level programming language, which is currently the language of the web. Both front-end and back-end development can be conducted with this one language. With the development of current websites and an increase in demand for design and simplicity, frameworks were developed. They allow programmers to make beautiful websites much faster and that’s why they are preferred over directly writing in JS.

. There is actually quite a large number of frameworks and we will only talk about the three of the most popular ones, which are generally considered best developed. In this article, I will go over their differences as well as the similarities and what you have to consider before selecting one over another.

Features:

  • Data Binding
  • Simplicity
  • Template
  • Vue is the newest framework, which has a growing audience. It is the easiest among the three to get started with and is sufficiently powerful for more professional developers. Vue does not have as many built-in features as Angular but still has quite a bit more than React, which means you can get started with building websites with Vue right away. It is a popular choice among beginners. Vue also allows you to leverage your native HTML and CSS skills. Whatsmore, it is known for its well-written documentation, which is extremely useful. Recently Vue has also created the UI component in addition to the CLI. This even further simplifies the learning process for beginners and provides great statistics.

Vue is newer than both Angular and React, which means that is has a growing community. However, it is not as established as the other two.

React

Features:

  • Component-based
  • Declarative
  • JSX

React offers easy and functional component creation. Furthermore, React’s elegant API urges you to make use of components. React is highly popular, especially in the startup community. By having a large selection of easily available open-source plugins and extensions, basically any type of website can be developed. Component templates are written using JSX, which can a bit different from what you’re used to.

Angular

Features:

  • Universal
  • Native
  • Complex

Angular certainly provides more in the box than React or Vue. Because of this building complete solutions is more straightforward. Angular is popular with enterprises. Additionally, it provides the best Command Line Interface(CLI) among the three. While its syntax takes some time to get used to, Angular allows for better use of HTML and CSS. The code is rather verbose and complex compared to the other frameworks and the learning curve is certainly steeper.

Comparison

Ease of Use on three

React and Vue, for the most part, are focused on building user interfaces, while Angular is focused on building applications. Because of this Angular is more complex and difficult for beginners. React and Vue are initially simpler but grow in complexity when larger applications are being developed.

Tooling Support Being

All three frameworks provide CLIs, which makes it easier to create new projects and support continuous development. Additionally, all of them are well supported by popular IDEs, such as VS Code and Atom.

Performance Compare

Performance could certainly vary based on the situation, for the most part, all three frameworks are rather fast. Performance is usually not the primary concern when choosing between them. However, it is worth noting that one can be better than the other in particular tasks, which is something to consider when working on large applications.
